Asin to pair Vijay?

It looks likely that Asin might be roped in to play Vijay's heroine for his next film 'Vettaikkaran', to be produced by AVM Balasubramaniam and directed by Babu Sivan, a former associate of Dharani.

Asin is currently shooting abroad with Salman Khan for a Hindi movie titled 'London Dreams'. The movie will be completed in about two months' time. It looks likely that if she is free by October, she can accommodate dates for the Vijay starrer. The Vijay-Asin couple is considered a safe bet in Tamil Cinema.

Meanwhile, Asin's maiden Hindi venture 'Ghajini' is nearing completion and would hit the screens very soon. She plays the role enacted by her in the Tamil original. Aamir Khan plays the lead role in which director Murugadoss is wielding the megaphone.

Vijay to turn 'Vetaikkaaran' after loading 'Villu'

Vijay is currently working for 'Villu' that is being directed by Prabhu Deva. Meanwhile he had done a cameo for his father's film 'Panthayam' that stars Nithin Sathya and Sindhu Tolani. Vijay plays himself in the film and features as though he is acting in a film titled 'MGR' directed by Perarasu.

Vijay's association with MGR does not end here. His next venture after 'Villu' has been titled 'Vettaikkaaran'. It can be recalled that MGR had acted in a film bearing the same title decades ago. This film is to be produced by AVM.

Would it be ironical to say that Vijay would become a 'Vettaikaaran' after arming himself with 'Villu'?

'Kuruvi' flies high

The Vijay starrer 'Kuruvi' has successfully completed its 100-day run across a few theatres. Produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin, grandson of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and son of Minister M. K Stalin, Kuruvi brought together the successful 'Ghilli' team. Vijay, Trisha, director Dharani and music director Vidyasagar managed to recreate the magic of 'Ghilli' with 'Kuruvi'.

An action-packed venture, the movie managed to find favor with Vijay fans and completed its 100-day run on Friday. A thrilled Dharani, says, ' we are happy to have made it big. We are hopeful to continue the good run'.

Meanwhile Udhayanidhi has geared up to commence his next venture which would feature Suriya and Nayanthara in lead role. The movie is to be directed by K S Ravikumar and buzz is that A R Rahman will be composing music for the film.

Prabhu Deva is directing Vijay for 'Villu' while his elder brother Raju Sundaram is directing Ajith in 'Aegan'

Prabhu Deva is directing Vijay for the film 'Villu' and the dance master-turned actor-turned director is more than confident about the movie's prospects at the box office. When asked if 'Villu' will be as successful as 'Pokiri', the director said he hopes it will be three times more vibrant than 'Pokiri'.

When asked about big names such as Vadivelu and Nayantara in the film, Prabhu Deva said, 'When Vijay was confirmed for the project, one of my assistants literally begged me to cast Nayantara in the film. His desire seems to be working wonderfully well and the film is shaping up very well'.

'The film would start off in a pleasant way in a picturesque habitat and jovial manner with family, friends and lorry loads of fun. A gory incident takes place and the action begins. Vijay would be awesome in these scenes. Songs and fights have come out impressively and I am very happy with things'.

Talking about Nayantara in the film, Prabhu Deva gives a sneak peek of her introduction scene. 'When you are running for cover after it starts raining and then you find a beautiful girl with an umbrella standing in the rain inviting you the share the umbrella with her, how would you feel?' asks the director.

Well, Nayantara might just have to dance in the rain once again after 'Kuselan'.

When asked about Prabhu Deva's Hindi remake of 'Pokiri' featuring Salman Khan, the expert dancer turned director says, 'it has been about seven years since Salman had acted in an action packed film. He has performed extremely well and the movie is sure to be exciting'.

It is interesting to note that Prabhu Deva is directing Vijay for 'Villu' while his elder brother Raju Sundaram is directing Ajith in 'Aegan'.

So who are the real competitors? Vijay and Ajith or Prabhu Deva and Raju Sundaram? We'll know soon.

Vijay in a movie titled 'MGR'

Actor Vijay is playing the lead role in a movie titled 'MGR', directed by Perarasu. Hold your horses and don't jump to conclusions. This is a film within a film.

Vijay's dad S. A. Chandrasekhar is directing a film called 'Pandhayam' with Nithin Sathya donning the lead role. Vijay will be playing himself in the film as a guest performer. Since he plays himself, he will be depicted as though he is shooting for a film under the direction of Perarasu. And that film's title is 'MGR'.

The scene was shot in Chennai recently. Nithin Sathya, the hero of 'Pandhayam' plays a die-hard Vijay fan in the film and so goes to see Vijay shooting for a movie. Prakash Raj and Sindhu Thulani also are in the cast. Vijay Anthony has scored the music.

It may be recalled that Vijay had earlier acted in a guest role in S A Chandrasekhar's 'Sukkran'.

Vijay is meanwhile busy with 'Villu', directed by Prabhudeva and the shooting for the film, produced by Ayngaran Internationals is on at a rapid pace.

Vijay's Italian rendezvous

'Ilaya Thalapathy' Vijay is busy shooting for ‘Villu’. The movie, directed by Prabhudeva and produced by Ayngaran Films International, kicked off in Karaikudi recently.

A number of scenes featuring Vijay and Nayantara were shot in Karaikudi. And now the buzz is that the crew would shoot a major portion of the film in Italy. The script involves a foreign country in the second half and so the crew will be heading for Italy this July.

Sources close to Prabhu Deva reveal that he has also planned to shoot two song sequences in exotic Italy.

It sure would be interesting to see Vijay chasing and hunting down the baddies in this European country. Nayantara sizzled with her attitude and attractive modern costumes in ‘Billa’ and the movie was set in Malaysia. So, foreign destinations suit her big time and with Nayantara on song now, one can expect Prabhu Deva to exploit her talents.

Vijay and Nayantara on the prowl in Italy….sounds interesting.

Is Vijay aiming right with 'Villu'?

Touted as the next superstar of Tamil cinema, Vijay is reportedly keen on getting everything right with ‘Villu’. An average showing with ‘Azhagiya Tamil Magan’ and ‘Kuruvi’ has not helped Vijay's journey to the numero uno position for the future. Despite being on the top amongst young heroes, the actor has to come up with a string of successes to consolidate his position.

Vijay's magnetic appeal in the B and C centers has seen to it that even his average movies somehow scrape through at the box office. But this is a trend that might not continue for long especially with the influx of talented young filmmakers experimenting new styles of storytelling in Tamil cinema. These innovative approaches have been recognized and appreciated by audiences. The surge of quality filmmaking is bound to tighten the noose around run-of-the-mill stories.

After the stupendous success of 'Pokkiri', the remake of a Telugu film by the same name, Vijay has teamed up with Prabhu Deva once again, to reproduce the success. Sources say ‘Villu’ is expected to have the usual dose of fights, dance, sentiment-filled sequences and loads of dialogues that 'glorify' Vijay. These are facets that are loved by the 'typical' Vijay fan. No matter how well these elements reach out, the story and narration hold the key to the long run. This is where Prabhu Deva and Vijay have to be extra careful.

There is a talk doing the rounds as to what the story of ‘Villu’ is going to be like. It goes like this….

A group of baddies kill an honest, hardworking man. The man's wife and son are somehow spared. The son (Vijay) grows up under the impression that his father had perished in an accident. But then, as the story goes, Vijay learns of the malicious plot that got his father murdered. An angry Vijay hatches a plan to bring the murderers to justice and in the process falls in love with the daughter of a baddie, played by Nayantara. Inevitably it is justice and love ahead of Dad and so she toes the lines of Vijay's plans dutifully only to succeed.

Even a die hard Vijay fan would be hoping against hope that this is just a rumor and the actual story is in fact a new gripping tale. If this rumor turns out to be true, one gets the feeling Vijay will have to get back to square one, rethink his strategies and start all over again in order to get things right.

TAMIL ACTOR VIJAY VILLU STILLS VILLU MOVIE GALLERY

Vijay's next venture 'Vilu' has kicked off in Palani

Vijay's next venture 'Vil' has kicked off in Palani and the actor is very keen to get things in order right from the outset. Both Vijay and Prabhu Deva, the director of the film, are very keen to cast Vadivelu in a meaty role. It can be recalled that Vadivelu came up with rib tickling stuff in 'Pokiri' that was appreciated by the masses.

Initially the project was named 'Singam', but then director Hari had copyrighted the name for the movie he's planning to make with Suriya. So the Vijay-Prabhu Deva duo decided on 'Vil'. It was only after that they came to know director S. J. Suryah had the same title for a Telugu film he was making with Pawan Kalyan.

Vijay reportedly convinced S. J. Suryah and had him change the title of the Telugu film title. S. J. Suryah has now decided on the name 'Puli' for his film.

With the name game settled now, the unit is concentrating hard to get the movie in a slick format. Grapevine has it that 'Vil' is the remake of a Hindi film by name 'Soldier'. Asin plays Vijay's leading lady once again.

The movie has cinematography by Ravi Varma, music by Devi Sri Prasad and stunts by Fefsi Vijayan.

Vijay changes title Singam as Vil

Finally Vijay – Prabhu Deva ally selected the title Vil for their next project. But at the same time, SJ Surya, the owner of this title, is still maintaining silence over the issue. Initially, Prabhu Deva wanted to title the film as Singam, but the same was registered by director Hari much earlier than Prabhu Deva.

Now Vijay and Prabhu Deva seem to be settled with the catchy title Vil. It may be recalled that a few months before SJ Surya has started a movie with the title Vil. He is playing as a handicapped but very talented young man. But due to the financial crisis of its producer Nic Arts Chakravarthy, the shooting was suspended temporarily.

According to Ayangaran Films International Vijay's Vil will be launched from a remote village near Pazhani, a holy town near Madurai from June 7. The others in the cast are Nayantara, Vadivel, Prakash Raj and Biju Menon.

Ravi Varman handles the camera and Sunil is the art director. Devisri Prasad scores music for this movie.
