One more heroine from Mollywood

Joining the long list of Malayalam actresses making a beeline to Tamil cinema is Nithya. She has been chosen by ad filmmaker turned director Jayendra for '180', a movie he is making with Siddharth playing the protagonist.

The film is being produced by Sathyam Cinemas. Nithya Menon had earlier acted in Malayalam films like 'Akasha Gopuram’, ‘Vellathooval’, Angel John' and 'Kerala Cafe'.

Interestingly, the actress was to do the second lead in Vijay’s 'Kaavalkaran', but reportedly backed out at the last minute due to some unavoidable reasons. Now Nithya will get a launch as Siddharth’s heroine.

Meanwhile, the movie's title has been cleared by the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC). It is to be noted that TFPC is insisting on pure Tamil titles as per government rules to get entertainment tax concession.

Is it ‘Putham Pudhu Kalai’ for Siddarth?

Only recently we read that Siddarth’s forthcoming bilingual venture, directed by popular ad filmmaker Jayendra and produced by Sathyam Cinemas, has been titled ‘180’, since the title would suit both the Tamil and Telugu versions.

However, fresh reports now claim that the Tamil version would come with a new name ‘Putham Pudhu Kalai’ while the Telugu version would retain the original title ‘180’, thanks to a Tamil Nadu government’s order.

“The decision has been taken to honour an order from the State government that only films bearing Tamil titles would be eligible to get tax exemption,” say sources in the know.

With Priya Anand of ‘Vamanan’ fame and Mollywood actress Nithya Menon playing the heroines, ‘Putham Pudhu Kalai’ is said to be romantic entertainer. The title is inspired by a popular song by maestro Illayaraja in the 1980s.
