Soundarya as a specialist in ‘Endhiran’

Preparing for the final leg of the shoot director Shankar said that two songs are left to be canned abroad. “The first science-fiction film in Tamil will deal with the good and bad effects of robots in the backdrop of Indian culture”, said the director. Our superstar also confirmed it saying that more than 80%of the film’s shoot is over, during the ‘Eeram’ audio launch.

Sources close to the production house says that Sun TV is planning to release the film by April 2010. The reason behind the delay is the usage of EFX, CG and 3D animation techniques unlike another Tamil movie. They have used nearly two lakhs and fifty thousand frames for these special effects!

As all these works can’t be finished in Chennai alone, few important scenes have been handed over to a company in Canada. It’s heard that this particular firm has handled several Hollywood movies.

The focal information is that our hero Superstar’s daughter Soundarya is an important member in the team of Endhiran’s Digital experts’ team. The girl is always very much involved in boosting up her dad’s image… Great!

What happened in Yogi audio launch?

Perhaps, it was almost like a paradise coming down on earth for filmmaker Ameer. Incisively, the occasion of ‘Yogi’ audio launch happened to be a blissful moment for the moviemaker as his close pals and his most-loved personalities were present for the event showing their blessings and best wishes. Ameer said that he wished to bring together all those who had entered politics from filmdom for his audio launch function.

Naturally, the entire Satyam Cinemas was brimmed with top-charting Director Bharathiraja, producer Dhayanidhi Alagiri, producers council president Rama Narayanan, KRG, producer R.B. Chowdary, director Seeman, Editor Mohan, Cheran, Bala, Music Director Yuvan Shankar Raja, actresses Madhumitha with her Husband Siva Balaji and Swathi, Sun Pictures Hansraj Saxena, Sasikumar, Jeeva, Silambarasan and many other hi-profiled personalities from Tamil film industry.

Of course, for the first time in history of the tinsel town, director Ameer had personally mailed the invitation to 225 assistant directors. Filmmaker Subramaniam Siva started the occasion with his introductory speech and later director Karu Pazhaniappan share few words.

Actor-turned-director Ameer was a little disappointed about one of his audio launch plans not turning fruitful. He said, "I wanted to invite all film personalities cutting across party lines. However I could not succeed in my attempt. The camaraderie of sharing the dais irrespective of differences is missed today."

In his address, Cheran said he was quiet disturbed at Tamils not standing united to save the lives of over 1.5 lakh suffering people in Sri Lanka.

The hero of the function, music director Yuvan Shankar Raja was seen happy about his work being appreciated by the guests. To be particular, ‘Seermevum Koovathiley’ – an extraordinary song that featured Ameer, lyricist Viveka and group shaking their legs together was screened. Instantaneously, everyone gathered over there were astonished with the stupendously shot trailer of ‘Yogi’ that was screened later.

Ameer hadn’t merely proved of his adeptness in acting, but as a great dancer as well. Let’s wait to watch it all!

I am not experimenting, says Kamal

Denying reports that he is making 'Unnaipol Oruvan' on an experimental basis, Kamal Haasan has said it is a commercial film with all necessary ingredients to woo the audience.

Speaking at the audio launch of 'Eenadu', the Telugu version of 'Unnaipol Oruvan' in Hyderabad on Sunday, he said the film's director Chakri Toleti did a wonderful job. "The movie will be so gripping," he said.

The actor, who said that he never interfered in the music of the movie, scored by his daughter Shruthi Haasan, added that the opportunity was given to Shruthi only due to her talent. "It is not because she is my daughter," he said.

Rajini refuses but Kamal accepts

Preparations were made by Nadigar Sangam for a veneration party on September 5th for Central Ministers Nepoleon and Jegathratchagan. But unfortunately due to the sudden demise of Andhra’s Chief Minister the function was shelved.

Now as it’s planned to reschedule the function with Kamal Haasan as the chief guest, they are waiting for his favourable date. But birdies say that the reason why Kamal was invited is because our Superstar refused to grace the functi1on. As Rajini attended the recent anniversary function of the Nadigar Sangam he stayed away from this function says the sources.

Fair enough! But for what cause is this admiration party for Nepoleon and Jegathratchagan? Well, it is in honour of the members of Nadigar Sangam who have turned as Central Ministers. And so a party just for Nepoleon and Jegathratchagan!

Pooja does it for Arya

Pooja who was in peace like a dormant volcano after her boiling performance in ‘Naan Kadavul’ has now nodded her head for her next. This one will be with ‘Poo’ director Sasi under the banner of Moser Baer. But wait! This character is not a lead role but it’s a special appearance for her buddy Arya, the lead man of the film.

We hear it that the filming will start from the month of December. This time the weapon in Sasi’s hands is to narrate the sole of friendship, without love. Arya and Pooja and classmates till their high school. During the alumni day function, a scene in which Arya and Pooja are meeting each other after along gap will be canned. And this is where Pooja will be appearing says the sources.

100 new faces in ‘Angadi Theru’

Director Vasantha Balan might have courted international fame through his debut film, 'Veyyil', but it seems like he has not let gone his conviction to make movies only based on their story strength.

At an enviable position where he could have roped in any leading hero for the project, Vasantha Balan has opted to cast new comers for his second film, 'Angadi Theru'. The film has new comer Mahesh in the lead, pairing with Anjali of 'Kattradhu Thamizh' fame as the heroine. But that’s not all. The filmmaker proudly says that he has introduced a 100 new faces for this film, which is only a reflection of reality.

Resources are limited, but man’s desire is not. It is this contrast that drives the story of 'Angadi Theru', which is about the lives of a sales girl and sales boy of a popular saree store in Chennai. The film is produced by Anygaran, and Arun Pandiyan declared that it was their first Tamil film in the sense that it was the first film they produced so rooted in Tamil culture and Tamil cinema.

The film’s audio, composed by both G.V. Prakash and Vijay Antony, was launched at a grand event held in Sathyam Cinemas.

Kanthaswamy's costumes for three crores

One of the big budget films in 2009, ‘Kanthaswamy’ has Vikram and Shriya in the lead. Director Susi Ganesan says the film’s storyline demanded a big budget. “In fact, we have not splurged just for the sake of it. We have spent where it is really necessary. But costumes in the film will be a highlight,” says the director.

“Vikram, playing a superhero in the flick, wears clothes worth Rs 75 lakh alone, while Shriya, whose glamour and acting will be a highlight in the movie, wears clothes worth a whopping Rs 1.25 crore,” he explains, putting the movies budget at over Rs 30 crore. “We wanted to shoot in new locations and toured and shot for a month in Mexico. We spent Rs 8 crores for shooting there, while some scenes and a song, shot in Itlay, cost us Rs 2 crore. Apart from these, being a superhero action adventure, the film has a lot of special effects. These have itself cost us Rs 3 crores,” says the director.

‘Kanthaswamy’, produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, has music by Devi Sri Prasad and is likely to be a June end release.

Ajith in 'Asal' with Sameera Reddy

wire photo

Ajith has started on his next project. After Aegan, Ajith has plunged into his next film with the verve and zest that is his deeply ingrained work ethic. The latest film called Asal, meaning original, will star Sameera Reddy. This hot, shapely star from Bollywood wowed Tamil audiences with her very down-to-earth and girl-next-door performance in Vaaranam Aaiyram. It was her sweet and heart-rending smile that did it for most of her male fans.

Produced under the Sivaji Productions banner, Asal will be directed by Saran. The project was initially planned with Gautham Menon. After that several names including Dharani and Vishuvardhan did the rounds, but now Saran is to handle the project. The film's music is by Harris Jayaraj. Saran will take up the project just as soon as he wraps up Modhi Vilayadu starring Vinay and Kajal Aggarwal. Colonial Cousins Hariharan and Leslie Lewis debut as music directors in Modhi Vilayaadu.

Asal casting

Casting

Following the announcement that Sivaji Productions, Ajith Kumar and Gautham Menon would come together, other technicians were added to the film. Menon’s usual apprentices, Harris Jayaraj was signed on as the music composer for the film, while lyricist Thamarai, was selected to write the songs. Later, Dharani reportedly replaced Gautham as director due to disagreements between him and Ajith over the script.[4] After Sivaji Productions considered directors including A. R. Murugadoss, Vishnuvardhan and A. L. Vijay for the film, they turned to Saran.

Prabhu Ganesan, also co-producer for the film under Sivaji Productions, cast himself to play an important role in the film. Whilst, Gautham Menon selected Sameera Reddy, who had portrayed the lead female role in his previous film, Vaaranam Aayiram to star opposite Ajith Kumar in the film. Sameera appears along Ajith Kumar for the first time, despite previously being entitled to appear opposite him in Citizen, which eventually went ahead without her. The other members of the cast and technical crew are being finalized.

Asal.... Asal.... Asal....

Development

Following the commence of production for Ajith Kumar’s Aegan in late December 2007, reports indicated that Ajith Kumar will act in a film produced by Sivaji Productions directed by Gautham Menon. Three months later, it was confirmed that the project would go ahead as planned as soon as both, the director and the actor finished their respective projects.

The film, which is due to start its first schedule during June 2008, has been built up as the final instalment in Gautham Menon’s police trilogy, following his two earlier ventures, Kaaka Kaaka; which Ajith Kumar was originally meant to be a part of and Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. However other indications suggest that the film is the remake of the classic, Pudhiya Paravai starring Sivaji Ganesan, which Ganesan’s son, Prabhu, who is the producer for the project denied. The film earlier rumoured to be titled, Kanavugal Karpanaigal or Vaanam Kadandha Siragugal, was finalized with the title of Surangani, which was later abbreviated to Sura.[2]

The story was subsequently changed and Saran was signed up to the film.

The world will end in 2012, say experts

Several experts from across the globe are predicting that the earth is likely to end by the year 2012. The reason could be a human effect or natural disaster. From Chinese theories to scientific predictions the most likely date is the year 2012.

SCIENTIFIC EXPERTS from around the world are predicting that five years from now, all life on Earth could well come to an end. Some are saying it’ll be humans that would set it off. Others believe that a natural phenomenon will be the cause. And the religious folks are saying it’ll be God himself who would press the stop button. The following are some likely arguments as to why the world would end by the year 2012.

Reason one: Mayan calendar

The first to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things -- building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and sacrificing virgins.

Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it’s likely they’ve got the end of the world right as well.

Reason two: Sun storms

Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery. Our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic and it’s supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the earth with lot of radiation energy. It’s been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse and calculations suggest it’ll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012.

Reason three: The atom smasher

Scientists in Europe have been building the world’s largest particle accelerator. Basically, its a 27 km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it’s properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They’re predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.

Reason four: The Bible says it

If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn’t bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act as well. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between good an evil, has been set for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese Book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.

Reason five: Super volcano

Yellowstone National Park in United States is famous for its thermal springs and old faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple -- it’s sitting on top of the world’s biggest volcano and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we’re many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

Reason six: The physicists

This one’s case of bog -- simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berkely University have been crunching the numbers. They’ve determined that the earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they’re claiming that their calculations prove that we’re all going to die, very soon. They are also saying that their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 per cent; and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs.

Reason seven: Earth’s magnetic field

We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that shields us from most of the sun’s radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call North and South have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so -- and right now we’re about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30 kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is under way, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches.
