In Kuselan, superstar Rajinikanth will feature in three of the five songs. He will be introduced in the film by the song, ‘Cinema…Cinema’. This song, featuring about 10 frontline actors of Kollywood, will laud the effort of each and every artist involved in filmmaking, right from lightboys to actors to directors to fans.

The filming was completed on June 26, 2008; this was the last song to be shot; it was shot with 400 real fans of Rajni (instead of junior artists) at Shanti theatre. The song also contains lines that talk about Rajinikanth: ‘Super star-i thiraiyil parthaal adhirumthaney, maalaigal ellam malai pola kuviyumthaney’. It means the appearance of Superstar (Rajinikanth) on screen will electrify the atmosphere.

If ‘Cinema…cinema’ is one highlight song, ‘Om Zaarare’ sung by Daler Mehendi is another. This song runs for 7 minutes and has been sung by Daler Mehendi, Chitra, and Sadhana Sargam. Pasupathy and Meena will be featured in the other two songs.

Prabhu joins Rajini's Kuselan

Every day superstar Rajini's Kuselan is getting bigger and broader shape than its original Kadha Parayumbol. Unlike in the Malayalam original, Rajini has accepted to do the enlarged version of Mammootty's role throughout the film and will be seen singing two duets with Nayanthara and feature in two action sequences to add the commercial weight to the film.

Now, Prabhu, one of the actors close to the superstar also joins the cast of Kuselan. He will play the vital role as Mukesh did in the original version. Prabhu accepted to do the role on the personal and invitation from Rajini. So far Prabhu and Rajini have appeared in three movies.

His last movie with Rajini was Chandramukhi, a historical blockbuster of the superstar produced by Prabhu. It is also being said that action king Arjun has will appear with Rajini in few scenes in Kuselan.

Modhi Vilayadu – a romantic thriller

The look and feel of Saran's 'Modhi Vilayadu' is very impressive. The film stars Vinay and Kajal Agarwal. The way the movie stills are designed seem to tell a story. A story of youthful love amalgamated with a lot of thriller elements.

Both Vinay and Kajal Agarwal look good together in the stills. Saran, known to be a good story teller has come up with many a hit with Ajith in the past. Vinay's impressive performance in 'Unnale Unnale' and Kajal's innocent and yet flamboyant look has merged very well to create enough curiosity with this film.

'Modhi Vilayadu' is produced by Metro Films (P) Ltd in association with Gemini Industries and Imaging (P) Ltd.

An interesting fact about this film is that Colonial Cousins (Hariharan and Leslie) are debuting in Tamil films as music directors.

Sundar C. in an MGR remake?

Actor-Director Sundar C is reportedly keen to start a movie that would be a remake of the yesteryear MGR hit 'Ulagam Sutrum Valiban'.

Sundar C, who is an actor to reckon with in the industry, is working in half-a-dozen movies. However he is keen to direct and act in the lead role for 'Ulagam Sutrum Valiban'.

The original version was directed and acted by MGR. In the movie, MGR plays a double role as a scientist and his modern-swashbuckler brother trying to protect the world from a gang of evil doers led by scientist/ entrepreneur Ashokan, who try to steal a formula in order to make bombs out of lightning.

Though Sundar C, has his own creative freedom to remake 'Ulagam Sutrum Valiban', one will have to admit that it would be an impossible task for him to recreate the magic MGR ever so beautifully brought about in his film.

This is a season for remakes and so let's wait and see what Sundar C. has in store for us.

Rajinikanth on top of India

Rajinikanth has been adjudged one of the top 50 powerful men in the country by '4 Ps', a business and marketing fortnight magazine.

The survey was conducted using various methodologies by ICMR (The Indian council for Marketing Research) and the 4Ps team.

Rajinikanth was chosen based on his visibility in the media over the last year, leadership qualities displayed and positive actions taken by actor.

Apart from Rajini, music genius A R Rahman has also managed a place for himself in the elite list.

'Kuselan stage show' to rock Chennai, Hyderabad

Kuselan - the name spells magic these days. The movie is gearing up for a spectacular opening and reports suggest that just about everyone who worked for the movie is happy with the outcome of all the songs composed by young G. V. Prakash.

The 'Kuselan' think-tank has planned an extravaganza for live music lovers in Chennai and Hyderabad. G. V. Prakash's team along with all the singers of the various songs will perform live on stage on the 19th of July in Chennai and on the 25th of July in Hyderabad. Initial reports suggest that all the actors who performed in 'Kuselan' would also be present. However, this is yet to be confirmed officially.

Many production houses have come out with novel ways of attracting the general public's attention to their movies. We recently witnessed Jackie Chan at the audio launch of 'Dasavatharam'.

The concept of a live show playing out the music of the film is indeed very attractive. However this has nothing to do with the audio launch. The audio launch for Kuselan would happen as planned on the 30th of June at Hotel Le Royal Meridian at 7 pm in Chennai. Attractive booklet style invitations have already been handed out to guests.

Superstar Rajinikanth looks spectacular in the film and seems completely at home with the attitude of a 'style king'. When it comes to style, he most surely is the best in the world. Playing a film superstar in 'Kuselan' is a boon for millions of his fans as he can enact all the stylish walk, talk, gestures and attitude he has developed over the years.

This film would also be a major benchmark in G. V. Prakash's career. 23 years of age and has bowled over the likes of Rajinikanth, P. Vasu and K. Balachander.

Vijay's Italian rendezvous

'Ilaya Thalapathy' Vijay is busy shooting for ‘Villu’. The movie, directed by Prabhudeva and produced by Ayngaran Films International, kicked off in Karaikudi recently.

A number of scenes featuring Vijay and Nayantara were shot in Karaikudi. And now the buzz is that the crew would shoot a major portion of the film in Italy. The script involves a foreign country in the second half and so the crew will be heading for Italy this July.

Sources close to Prabhu Deva reveal that he has also planned to shoot two song sequences in exotic Italy.

It sure would be interesting to see Vijay chasing and hunting down the baddies in this European country. Nayantara sizzled with her attitude and attractive modern costumes in ‘Billa’ and the movie was set in Malaysia. So, foreign destinations suit her big time and with Nayantara on song now, one can expect Prabhu Deva to exploit her talents.

Vijay and Nayantara on the prowl in Italy….sounds interesting.

Suriya and Vishal – On collision course

Suriya's 'Varnam Aayiram' directed by Gautham Menon and Vishal's 'Sathyam' directed by Rajshekar are expected to fight for audiences as both films release on Independence Day.

Both films are highly anticipated and are touted to have good storylines. Suriya has turned body builder with this film. His new look with a 'six –pack torso' has stirred enough and more curiosity and Suriya fans can't wait for the film's release. Suriya has been depicted as a young, middle-aged and old man in this film that also stars Divya Spandana and Sameera Reddy. Simran has also been cast in an interesting role.

The combination of Gautham Menon, Harris Jayaraj and Suriya is a highly successful one after its electric appeal in the form of 'Khakka Khakka'. 'Varnam Aayiram' with its technical brilliance and good storyline might just go ahead and recreate the magic once again. Ratnavelu is the cinematographer of the film.

'Sathyam' has been made at a whopping cost of 12 crores and revolves around the life of an Assistant Commissioner of Police. This is the first time Vishal plays a cop. Nayantara has bagged a role most actresses would die to perform. The role of a daring television journalist seems to be tailor-made for her and the character would be a major influence on the storyline. A number of children also perform in this film.

'Sathyam' has been extensively shot abroad and international talent has been used for 'chase' sequences. Harris Jayaraj has composed music and R. T. Rajshekar has cranked the camera. Kanal Kannan and Stunt Siva have worked out the fight sequences.

With both films creating healthy expectations, one will have to wait and see as to which one will make it bigger at the box office.

At this point we can only say….may the better film win!!!!

'Ajith is my godfather' - Jai

Jai, son of music composer Deva's elder brother Sampath, is fast climbing the ladder of success. Though he acted in the Vijay starrer ‘Bhagawathy’ as the younger brother, Jai is a huge fan of Ajith. Jai made an impact with ‘Chennai 600028’.

'I thank Ajith sir for the all his advice and guidance that has helped me make a career out of acting. He was very friendly and advised me on various things with regard to the industry', Jai says.

The young and aspiring actor is eagerly awaiting the release of his next film ‘Subramaniapuram’, directed by debutant and former associate of director Ameer, Sasi Kumar.

Awaiting the release of ‘Subramaniapuram’, Jai says, “ ‘Chennai 600028’ was a fun-filled film shot entirely in Chennai, whereas ‘Subramaniapuram’ was made in rural areas of Madurai. It is a serious film. I play an ordinary youth Azhagar, who falls in love with a college student.”

My forthcoming films include ‘Rakozhi’, ‘Aval Peyar Thamizharasi’, ‘Rettai Suzhi’ and another movie to be directed by Venkat Prabhu.

Says Jai, ' I wanted to become a music director and started playing key-board initially. However director Venkatesh took me to acting. After four years of my entry, I am placed comfortably in the industry'.

Mozart of Madras in 'Marmayogi'

A R Rahman will team up with Kamal Haasan for 'Marmayogi' and the mega movie will hit the floors next month in Mumbai. The film is written and directed by Kamal Haasan.

This period film set in the sixth century AD features Kamal Haasan in the lead role.

According to a confident Kamal Haasan, 'music would be the mainstay of the movie. I will be joining hands with Rahman for the project. We are sure of creating wonders'.

Kamal Haasan and Rahman had earlier worked together in ‘Indian’ and ‘Thenali’. Both the movies went on to become smash hits. The songs in the films topped the audio charts.

Both Kamal Haasan and A. R. Rahman are known for extensive research in order to get things right. Their combination might just work wonders with rich entertainment value.

Nila enthralled by the 'king of music'

Shooting for the film 'Jagan Mohini' is going on at a hectic pace now. The film stars Namitha and Nila. Maestro Ilayaraja has composed music for this film. Sources in the industry say that despite Ilayaraja having composed music for thousands of songs, he is not in the habit of seeing his songs being picturized.

Well, here's a first for Ilayaraja. He visited the sets of 'Jaganmohini' in Madurai where a song sequence featuring Nila and the hero of the film Raja was going on. The producer of the film Murali and the director N. K. Viswanathan had invited him and the maestro obliged.

As soon as the maestro entered, excitement filled the air. A visibly thrilled Nila and Raja fell at his feet and got his blessings.

A classic case of a man who wins hearts with his music.

Ravishing Asin captured on Vogue cover

Awesome Asin has made it to the cover of the highly prestigious fashion magazine Vogue. She now has the privileged distinction of being the first South Indian actress to be featured with an attractive photo shoot adorned with gorgeous outfits.

An excited Asin said, 'the shoot with Vogue was really exciting. This was the very first time I shot with a fashion magazine and I had loads of fun. The clothes are simply amazing. Especially the pink dress by Valentino….that was my favorite'.

She also added that most actors don't like posing for still photography, but she had a whale of a time. 'I felt very comfortable and I enjoyed the clothes'.

Asin is debuting in Hindi with Aamir Khan's
'Ghajini' – the remake of a Tamil film with the same name. She is
probably the luckiest actress today especially with her exquisite
photographs in Vogue magazine as a prelude to the movie's release.

An ecstatic Asin launched the July issue of Vogue at Landmark in Spencer Plaza in Chennai recently.

The editor of Vogue India Priya Tanna said, 'Asin
was the unanimous choice for the cover. We look to feature upcoming
international talent on Vogue. She has this very unique ethereal Indian
beauty and she could carry herself off very well in different brands'.

Well, this ethereal Indian beauty has it in her to
go a very long way…. after all she is only 22 and has just started
basking in the warmth of soft sunshine that has begun smiling upon her.

Dasavatharam - A Prelude to what is in store

After much waiting the prelude to the mega film 'Dasavadharam' happened with much celebrations during the audio launch of the film that was held in Chennai.

The cast and crew prided in bringing a glimpse of
what is to come to the eagerly waiting film fanatics. What follows is a
curtain raiser to the film that is sure to challenge all the movies
released so far in terms of technical as well as aesthetic aspects.

Just when we thought we had seen it all, every
possible avatar an actor can take; Kamal Haasan spellbinds his audience
and critics once again with his upcoming project 'Dasavathaaram'.
Portraying ten different uniquely etched characters, he brings each of
them to life with his unmatched versatility. He has also penned the
racy screenplay himself. K.S. Ravi Kumar, a director who has the pulse
of the audience in his hand, has directed this film. He has quoted that
"the audience expects a lot from this movie and it has come out well
enough to live up to that." 'Dasavadharam' interestingly has two music
directors. Himesh Reshamiya has scored the music for songs which have
come out very well. They are a rage among the fans at the moment. The
background music for the film has been scored by Devi Sri Prasad.

This is what Kamal Haasan had to say to audience
about watching 'Dasavadharam'. "I think, basically I am a cinema fan.
And I have given you what I would like to see as a sensible cinema fan.
So, I think your intelligence will not be insulted, your time will not
be wasted, and you will really enjoy this film." Asin and Mallika
Sherawat have acted opposite Kamal in this film with a special
appearance from the beautiful Jaya Pradha.

The art direction has been taken care of by the award winning Thotta Tharani.

When things start going wrong in a synthetic
bio-weapons laboratory in Washington DC, various international
organizations become players in a global cloak-and-dagger game.

The Whitehouse and CIA in the USA, P.M.'s
office in India, environmentalists, terrorist organizations and various
others converge and become part of a global hunt – some inadvertently
and some intentionally.

Starting in the 12th Century AD at the Chidambaram
temple complex in South India, the film will take the viewers on a
heady roller-coaster ride across time and continents. The master
storyteller, in an intriguing screenplay, weaves the chaos theory and
the multiple chain of events that follow into one cohesive, thrilling
narrative. Spinning the story of 'Dasavathaaram' is as difficult and
arduous a task as explaining the 10 different characters played by Dr.
Kamal Haasan; yet another one-of-a kind-attempt in world cinema by the
thespian.

Told with panache and humor, 'Dasavathaaram' does
not take the IQ and the aesthetics of the Indian film going public
lightly. It is one of the very few movies which will deliver what it
promises, and a little more!

A film that is bound to set a new benchmark in cinematic excellence and in box-office.

'Kuselan' - Return of the superstar

The expectations for Kamal Haasan's 'Dasavatharam' rose like a Tsunami and with its spectacular opening, the giant wave seems to be subsiding a bit. But then there is a hurricane named 'Kuselan' brewing in the horizon and is expected to cross the coast with tremendous intensity.

Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Kuselan' is expected to have a wonderful story and Vadivelu reportedly is at his rocking best.

Madhavan's 'Leelai' shelved

Ram Gopal Varma's Hindi film 'Darling' was to be remade in Tamil with Madhavan and Sada in lead roles. RGV collaborated with some financiers from Hindi filmdom to produce this film and it was to be directed by Kona Venkat.

The movie titled 'Leelai' set sail smoothly with Madhavan, Sadha and Shamitha Shetty reportedly donning their roles perfectly in this obsessive love themed thriller. But then, financial constraints have unfortunately made the ninety percent complete film come to a grinding halt.

The movie has been officially shelved and what's more, the name 'Leelai' is now being used for another project from the stable of Aascar Ravichandran.

Daler Mehndi sings in Tamil for 'Kuselan'

The magic and mayhem around superstar Rajinikanth's 'Kuselan' is getting bigger by the day. The audio album of the movie will hit the market on July 1 across the country. G. V. Prakash has reportedly come out with very good songs and Punjabi pop king Daler Mehndi will be singing in Tamil for the first time. Lending his inimitable voice for the song 'Oyam Zaarare' this is the first time the popular singer will be featured in a South Indian song.

Big names of the music industry such as Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan, Sujata, Chitra, Sadhna Sargam, Shreya Ghosal, Kailash Kher and Prasanna.V.V. have all sung for 'Kuselan'.

Superstar Rajinikanth speaking about his role in the film said, "The character Ashok Raj will be a turning point in my career. I have always been overwhelmed by the response I get from my audience. I have portrayed nearly 20 different characters for a song in this film and I am very excited about the movie."

While Daler Mahendi's song 'Oyam Zarare' is poised to be the next chartbuster, the audiences will groove to the foot tapping tunes of 'Perinba'. A major highlight of the song is that P. Vasu has got the who's who of the Tamil Film industry to appear in the song.

The audio rights for ‘Kuselan’ have been bagged by Big Music, truly a big name in the music business.

'Kuselan' also stars Pasupathy, Meena, Mamta Mohandas, Nayantara and Vadivelu in lead roles.

Is Vijay aiming right with 'Villu'?

Touted as the next superstar of Tamil cinema, Vijay is reportedly keen on getting everything right with ‘Villu’. An average showing with ‘Azhagiya Tamil Magan’ and ‘Kuruvi’ has not helped Vijay's journey to the numero uno position for the future. Despite being on the top amongst young heroes, the actor has to come up with a string of successes to consolidate his position.

Vijay's magnetic appeal in the B and C centers has seen to it that even his average movies somehow scrape through at the box office. But this is a trend that might not continue for long especially with the influx of talented young filmmakers experimenting new styles of storytelling in Tamil cinema. These innovative approaches have been recognized and appreciated by audiences. The surge of quality filmmaking is bound to tighten the noose around run-of-the-mill stories.

After the stupendous success of 'Pokkiri', the remake of a Telugu film by the same name, Vijay has teamed up with Prabhu Deva once again, to reproduce the success. Sources say ‘Villu’ is expected to have the usual dose of fights, dance, sentiment-filled sequences and loads of dialogues that 'glorify' Vijay. These are facets that are loved by the 'typical' Vijay fan. No matter how well these elements reach out, the story and narration hold the key to the long run. This is where Prabhu Deva and Vijay have to be extra careful.

There is a talk doing the rounds as to what the story of ‘Villu’ is going to be like. It goes like this….

A group of baddies kill an honest, hardworking man. The man's wife and son are somehow spared. The son (Vijay) grows up under the impression that his father had perished in an accident. But then, as the story goes, Vijay learns of the malicious plot that got his father murdered. An angry Vijay hatches a plan to bring the murderers to justice and in the process falls in love with the daughter of a baddie, played by Nayantara. Inevitably it is justice and love ahead of Dad and so she toes the lines of Vijay's plans dutifully only to succeed.

Even a die hard Vijay fan would be hoping against hope that this is just a rumor and the actual story is in fact a new gripping tale. If this rumor turns out to be true, one gets the feeling Vijay will have to get back to square one, rethink his strategies and start all over again in order to get things right.

'Guru En Aalu' moves to Dubai

Madhavan's ‘Guru En Aalu’ will be shot in a few exotic locales in Dubai. Directed by Selvah and produced by KRG, the movie is a remake of the recent Bollywood hit 'Yes Boss'.

The Shahrukh Khan starrer 'Yes Boss' was about a youth, who is desperate to strike it rich in life. He encounters a situation wherein he has to advocate the cause of his boss to a beautiful young girl. In time the youth himself falls for her. The Tamil version features Madhavan, Malayalam actress Mamta Mohandas and Abbas in lead roles.

The shooting is on at a quick pace and major portions were canned in Chennai. Now the crew is planning to film some important scenes in Dubai. Selvah is also contemplating on shooting a song sequence in Switzerland.

Madhavan is upbeat about the movie. He says, 'I had seen ‘Yes Boss’ several times. It has loads of emotions, romance and humor in it. Selvah is a crafty director, who can do justice to the script'.

‘Marmayogi’ - Fund raiser for ‘Maruthanayagam’?

Every passionate filmmaker has an innate desire to express himself or herself with an ideology or thought that is close to the heart. Everyone who is oriented with Tamil cinema knows that Kamal Haasan has been thirsting for quite a while to make a film called 'Maruthanayagam'. The only reason this film is still waiting in the wings is due to the fact that it involves production costs no other Indian film can ever fathom.

Knowing Kamal Haasan and his precision skills for perfection, the film would involve state-of-the-art technological gizmo and exuberant artistes, technicians, Computer Generated Imagery and sets that do justice to the period film that Kamal Haasan has in mind.

The film did manage to take off some years ago in the presence of Queen Elizabeth but then 'the still to come to terms' Indian film industry was not ready for a trend setting cinematic adventure that Kamal Haasan is very capable of. The venture being called off brought many traits of the film industry into question. The most appalling reason being no production house, not even a conglomeration of production houses wanting to involve themselves in a trend-setting mission and that too having a tried and tested stalwart in Kamal Haasan by their side.

Would all these developments simmer down Kamal Haasan's passion for filmmaking? The answer is an emphatic NO. The maverick in Kamal Haasan was bound to take over and the result could be simply spectacular. He seems to be taking on the 'traditionally adhered to production values' all by himself.

Taking on the mantle of producing ‘Marmayogi’ on a first copy basis, the writer, director, actor is hopeful of cashing it big with this project. No guesses again as to where all the money would go. Obviously to realize his dream of making 'Maruthanayagam' come true.

Despite Dasavatharam's mixed reviews, the film is running to packed houses. This is testimony enough that the film has indeed penetrated and is permeating within the hearts of general audiences. A huge boost for the lone war that Kamal Haasan is fighting.

With general audiences by his side the versatile actor could very well come out on the winning side. If that happens a trend would have been created. A trend that would put Indian Cinema firmly on world screens.

Way to go Kamal….keep fighting….

Jayam Ravi experiences with 'Peranmai'

Despite five heroines in the film 'Peranmai', Jayam Ravi reportedly had a torrid time while filming. The movie directed by S.P. Jananathan has Jayam Ravi playing a forest official and so was taken to a jungle near Thekkadi.

Jayam Ravi had reportedly jokingly said he was expecting a lovely time with five heroines by his side, but then was tied upside down to a tree branch for almost a whole day. A lesson for all actors not to have high hopes. Director S. P. Jananathan whose name became big after the smash hit 'E', is known for his cow –boyish style of picturizing shots. Imagine Jayam Ravi's surprise when he found out the whole film would go along these lines. And to boot, despite five heroines in the film, there is not even a single duet song in the film.

Jayam Ravi however has something to cheer about. His film 'Dhaam Dhoom' after many snags in production is finally ready and is gearing up for release. The actor reportedly is more than happy with the outcome of the fight sequences.

He is also looking forward to his next venture that is going to be directed by the talented Ameer.

Young and energetic Ravi does have it in him to go a long way.

Simbu and Prasanna injured

Actor Silambarasan, who was shooting for ‘Silambattam’, and Prasanna who was shooting for ‘Achchamundu Achchamundu’ in the United States have been injured while shooting for their respective films. Simbu has reportedly sprained his ankle while performing a dance sequence and has been advised rest for the next couple of weeks.

Prasanna got a blow to his head while filming a fight sequence.

Says the director of 'Achchamundu Achchamundu' Arun Vaithyanadhan, 'We were shooting the climax and there was a stunt where John Shea had to punch Prasanna. We rehearsed everything and somehow the timing missed and the punch directly landed on Prasanna's head. I was watching the whole thing in the monitor and realized immediately that the timing had gone awry'.

'Prasanna fell on the floor and I yelled 'CUT' immediately. Stunt coordinator Ian Mclaughlin and the doubles went to the spot with a first aid kit and ice packs. Prasanna was totally shaken up and it was really a hard blow. Things came back to normal in 30 minutes and Prasanna, like a real hero came back to the spot and finished the stunt'.

Denying reports carried out in certain sections of the media that an iron rod was used, Arun Vaithyanadhan added, 'there was no rod involved and there are no stitches and Prasanna is fine now. He is a terrific sport. The footage of this accident would feature in the special edition DVD'.

Injuries to actors and actresses have become prevalent in the recent past. It may be recalled that Mansoor Ali Khan was injured a couple of weeks ago while shooting for ‘Kanthaswamy’, while Kajal Agarwal sustained bleeding injuries in the sets of ‘Modhi Vilayadu’. Meanwhile S J Suryah was hurt while shooting for ‘Newtonin 3am Vidhi’.

This goes on to show that artistes are putting in that much of extra effort in order to get the right effect. Competitive nature has crept amongst artistes and probably is the main reason behind the injuries. Audiences these days are very appreciative of hard workers and all artistes will have to be on their toes if they need to taste success. Keeping this factor in mind, production houses would have to step up safety standards with immediate effect to avoid unnecessary injuries.

Silambarasan, after sustaining the sprain injury was rushed to a private hospital and shooting was eventually cancelled.

'Marmayogi' to be launched in Mumbai

‘Marmayogi’, Kamal Haasan's next venture would be launched on July 13, exactly a month after the release of ‘Dasavatharam’. Kamal Haasan seems to be eyeing the Hindi market and probably that is the reason the movie is going to be launched at the Grand Hotel in Mumbai.

The master actor's movies such as ‘Ek Thuje Keliye’, ‘Hindusthani’ (‘Indian’) and ‘Chachi 420’ (‘Avvai Shanmugi’) were runaway successes in the North. Despite these hits, the actor had to face failures in the form of ‘Hey Ram’ and ‘Abey’ (‘Aalavanthan’). ‘Dasavatharam’ is expected to do very well in Hindi and the actor probably wants to back it up with a good showing with ‘Marmayogi’ as well. The movie would be released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.

Kamal Haasan having written the story and screenplay would also direct the film. Pyramid Saimira International will be producing the movie and have awarded Kamal Haasan the production rights on a first copy basis. It would be interesting to see how the expenses of the movie turn out. There is a general perception in the film industry that Kamal Haasan creative mind 'thinks' expensive.

Would his creative mind still 'think' expensive with him as the producer on a first copy basis? We'll have to wait and see. But knowing the man's passion for filmmaking, one gets a gut feeling it really wouldn't alter his mindset.

‘Marmayogi’ is expected to be a historic adventure film with the best of technicians and artistes. Actress Kajol has been approached for a role in the film and A. R. Rahman will be scoring music.

'Kuselan' to release on July 25

Finally the word is out. It's official and confirmed. Rajinikanth's much-awaited ‘Kuselan’, a remake of Malayalam hit ‘Katha Parayumbol’, will hit the screens on 25 July.

Addressing media persons in Chennai on Wednesday, director P Vasu said, 'the shooting is complete and dubbing is going on right now. Re-recording will commence from Monday'.

The story is about two childhood friends who go different ways in their life as they grow up into adulthood. One ends up a poor barber struggling to make both ends meet and the other as a 'superstar' in the movies. What happens when the two meet after all those years holds the crux, he said.

Pasupathy plays the poor barber and needless to say Rajini plays the superstar. Prabhu, Nayantara, Meena, Sneha, Kushboo and Vadivelu are also in the cast.

Produced jointly by K Balachander's Kavithalaya Films and M P Vijayakumar's Seven Arts Films, ‘Kuselan’ has cinematography by Aravindh Krishna and musical score by G V Prakash.

According to Vasu, 'the audio rights of ‘Kuselan’ have been lapped up by Big Music for Rs 2.25 crore, while Pyramid Saimira has acquired the movie's distribution rights for a huge sum.'

Plans are on to release the audio of ‘Kuselan’ on 30 June. A grand function will be held in Chennai in which popular South Indian directors would take part.

The movie was shot in Hyderabad Ramoji Rao Film Studio, exotic locales of Pollachi, Udumalpet and interior parts of Kerala.

Adds Vasu, ' Rajinikanth's contribution to the movie is immense. He was very co-operative. We managed to complete the shooting of both ‘Kuselan’ and ‘Kathanayukudu’ in Telugu in just 82 days. Jagapathy Babu enacts the role played by Pasupathy in Tamil. Brahmanandam and Sunil are also in the cast in Telugu version'.

'G V Prakash's music is a major highlight of the movie. The 22-year-old boy has come up with stunning music and Rajinikanth himself appreciated him. So is Aravindh Krishna's cinematography'.

Vasu says, 'the movie has been completed so early thanks to my producers Kavithalaya and Seven Arts Vijayakumar.' Plans are on to shoot a song commemorating the 75th year of Tamil cinema with ‘Kuselan’ and popular actors including Vijay, Ajith and Vikram might appear in it. Valee has penned the lyrics'.

Get ready to be dazzled by 'Kuselan' this July, asserts a happy Vasu.

Dasavatharam (Review)

Kamal Hassan's die-hard fans will love him in his 10 different avatars. But for many others, Dasavatharam will fall short of the huge expectation and hype it had generated.
So what went wrong? It had absolutely no story to speak of, and the twists and turns were predictable. In the end, it turned out to be a routine film rendered more aggravating by its incessant near-miss plot structure. You desperately want to like the film for its maddeningly zany characters played out by Kamal Hassan. Alas! There's only so much life an actor can pump into a moribund script. It once again proves the old theory that, without a proper story and script, no film, however big the actors are, can succeed.

The plot

The film opens in the 12th century where Rangaraja Nambi (Kamal Hassan), a staunch Vaishnavite, opposes the removal of Lord Vishnu's idol by King Kulothunga Chozhan (Napoleon), who is a strong believer of Shiva. Nambi is punished and thrown into the deep sea tied to the idol. His wife Kothai (Asin) also kills herself. Then the story cuts to the US where Dr Govind (Kamal) discovers a deadly virus, which catches the attention of the government including President George Bush (Kamal). But his boss tries to sell the vial to the enemies and now it’s the turn of our hero to protect it from causing damage.

Dr Govind is pursued by a former CIA agent-turned-mercenary Keith Fletcher (Kamal) and his Tamil interpreter (Mallika Sherawat), who land up in Tamil Nadu. An array of other characters are drawn into the chase—Balram Naidu (Kamal), the Telugu speaking RAW chief, a Chinese martial arts teacher (Kamal) thirsting to take revenge on Fletcher, Vincent Poovarahan (Kamal) a Dalit activist , Krishnaveni Patti (Kamal), Khalifullah Khan (Kamal) and a Punjabi pop singer Avatar Singh(Kamal). Andal, a Brahmin girl, is also unwittingly drawn into a long chase. What follows is a cat and mouse game till the Tsunami climax.

It's actually hard to believe that in this age of experimentation within the commercial format, the director could think of such a moth-balled story. The earlier Kamal films in which he played dual or multiple roles, like Avvai Shanmukhi, Michael Madan Kamaraj and Indian, were far superior in style and content compared to his latest 10 avatars.

The trouble with the format is that far too many characters of the actor criss-cross without any reason—or they don’t make any difference to the story. It is obvious that characters like the Punjabi pop singer Avatar Singh, the tall Khalifullah Khan, the Japanese martial arts expert , etc., are unnecessarily stitched together to make it a perfect 10. The real crisis point in the film is nebulous. The film also coasts along at a doleful pace—185 minutes. Kamal’s prosthetic makeup, especially as George Bush, Fletcher and Khan, is a bit of a dampener. But Brian Jennings’ special effects, mainly of the climax Tsunami scene, are top class by Indian standards.

Himesh Reshammiya’s music is nothing much to talk about other than Kallai Mattum. But Devi Sri Prasad’s background score is superb and makes up for everything. Cinematographer Ravi Varman may take a bow, as his camerawork is glossy and superb. The big plus for watching the movie is the one-man acting school, Kamal Hassan. He pitches in yet another fantastic performance. Among the 10 avataars, the pick of the lot is Naidu the bumbling cop, as the actor is able to bring out his impeccable sense of comic timing. Asin looks cute as the chirpy Andal, but beyond a point her character irritates you with her frequent Perumale.. calls. Her dubbing is top class and deserves special mention. Mallika, in a brief role sizzles. M.S.Bhaskar and napolean in small roles shines.

Yes, the film is hugely flawed, but it is still worth a look for its overall packaging and richness in production value.

'Dasavatharam' prints land in USA – Will take off in cinemas tomorrow

Tamil cinema is embarking on an incredible period in the history of the United States of America. For the very first time, a South Indian film is getting ready to be released in fifty cities across the States. The movie designed with tremendous visual effects is very highly anticipated among the Indian community there and this expectation has been well perceived by the distributors.

Narmadha Travels is distributing 'Dasavatharam' for the USA Territory Theatrical Rights at an astounding price. The distributor, Jayavel Murugan of Narmadha Travels, says 'it's a well deserved price considering the effort, time and money invested by one of the best teams in India'.

Excellent state of the art theaters like Century Cinemark, AMC theaters and IMAX theaters have been booked all over the country by the distributor of the film.

Jayavel Murugan says they have taken extra care to ensure that almost all the cities in the US are covered on the release weekend itself. They have gone ahead and booked 42 prints and this is almost double that of Sivaji prints for USA.

He further said, "I have never seen any of the movies I bought in the past before the general release and business was on the star value and play the luck game as well. When I was in India the producers showed me all the 10 getups of Kamal sir and the first song. I have never ever seen that level of investment and grandeur in any Indian cinema. My decision was clearly influenced by the grandeur".

Now there is no stopping 'Dasavatharam'

Finally the epic film and dream project of Kamal Hassan has destroyed the final hurdle laid on its way and has the law of the land in its side as the Apex court has refused to issue a stay on the movie's release.

The film which was supposed to get released much earlier is awaited by the film lovers all over India.

It would have been a catastrophe for the kamilians as the die hard fans of Kamal Hassan call themselves if the film which will be hitting the cinema halls tomorrow is further delayed.

All this time the trouble the film faced was due to the petition filed by the believers of Vaishnavism from Chennai in the Supreme Court.

Their allegations were that 'Dasavatharam' features some scenes that offend the beliefs of Vaishnavas.

The justice makers after taking into consideration the complaints of the Vaishnavas and the clarifications in this regard from the makers of the film, has come to the conclusion that the film should be released tomorrow itself.

So the final countdown has begun as now it is just a matter of few hours before we can feast our eyes on this visual extravaganza.

‘Muthazhagu…. you won the National Award’

It was a performance to cherish. Priyamani's portrayal of a southern rural belle 'Muthazhagu' has got national recognition in the form of the highly prestigious National Award for the year 2006 in the best actress category.

‘Paruthi Veeran’ had a refreshingly woven screenplay about the lives of a 'don't care attitude' rustic ruffian played by debutant Karthi (actor Suriya's brother) and his unconventional love affair with childhood sweetheart Muthazhagu.

Both characters in the backdrop of a drought hit rural village went on to become instant hits with audiences all around Tamilnadu. The dialogue modulation of Karthi complimented Priyamani's character in a big way.

Director Ameer, who needs to be credited for a stupendous narration and building up of the characters burnt the midnight oil for this production and was literally behind the actors to perform as he wanted them to.

Priyamani had worked with Balu Mahendra for the movie 'Adhu Oru Kanaa Kaalam'. Though the movie didn't do too well at the box office her performance was appreciated.

The climax shots of 'Paruthi Veeran' saw Priyamani at her very best. She played a gang rape victim, who had been severely injured on her head. Scenes that can move even the stone hearted to tears.

An elated Priyamani said, “It is a dream come true experience for me. I am still flying high. I thank my director Ameer for helping me achieve this rare honor”.

Priyamani added, 'I never expected that ‘Paruthi Veeran’ would go on to get me an award. I performed what Ameer wanted me to do'.

“I thank all my co-stars and crew for helping me achieve this feat”, she said and added, “My mentors’ director Bharathiraja and Balu Mahendra deserve a special mention".

“I feel I should be more choosy and select my roles with care in the coming days. I vouch to continue my work and contribute the best for a movie's successes”, she added.

Paruthi Veeran's editor Raja Mohammad has won the National Award as Best Editor.

Thanking director Ameer, he said, "I made my debut in 'Nala Damayanthi' and 'Paruthi Veeran' is my 20th film. I thank all my crew for the success".

Indiaglitz congratulates National Award winners, Priyamani and Raja Mohammad and wish them stupendous success in the future.

Scorching 'Veyyil' cools hearts at the national awards

Vasanthabalan's 'matter-of-fact' movie ‘Veyyil’ has won the 54th National Film Awards in the Best Tamil Film category for the year 2006.

This highly appreciated film follows the life of a naughty young boy with a reclusive lifestyle. Playing hooky to school and watching movies all the time, the boy is cornered and humiliated by his father in front of the entire village. Ashamed and angry, the boy steals money from his father and runs away to Chennai.

He then ekes out a living after joining a cinema theater as a help. As he grows up, harsh realities of an cruel world hit him hard….he ends up losing the girl he loved….loses his job as the theater's film operator (a metaphorical representation of conventional cinema theaters getting extinct because of piracy, television serials and corporate run multiplexes) because the theater was running at a loss.

Knowing no other world, the boy who ran away returns as a man (played by Pasupathi) back to his childhood home and comes to terms with a plethora of emotions that bring him to tears.

The director needs to be lauded for the matter-of-fact way of narration charged with high voltage emotional involvements. His younger brother on the other hand grows up as the model boy of the village, running his own business and fights for his elder brother's acceptance in the family.

The movie was earlier selected for screening at the prestigious Cannes film festival.

Past mistakes brand a man and the character played by Pasupathi stands testimony to that.

Produced by director Shankar, the movie came across as a gripping tale and thoroughly deserves the National Award it has won.

Indiaglitz congratulates the ‘Veyyil’ team for this well deserved award.

Kamal Haasan flags off 'Jeyam Kondaan's audio run

The place was Sathyam Cinema and a galaxy of film personalities got together for the audio release of the film 'Jeyam Kondaan'. The man of the moment Kamal Haasan was there and so was Mani Ratnam. The stars of the film Vinay, Bhavana and Lekha Washington were excited about the event. Hope of a tremendous success was writ large on their faces.
Kamal Haasan spoke of corporates entering the film industry and called it a good sign if used properly. 'The various associations of Tamil cinema should change the rules and regulations in such a way that their entry only benefits the industry', he added.

Ace director Mani Ratnam spoke in the same fashion many characters in his films do. He spoke in short sentences and finished off the speech quickly. "I was called for the launch of the film….I am here for the audio launch….I hope to be here for the 100 days function". Off he went.

Clearly shy and shaken in Kamal Haasan's presence, Jeyam Ravi spoke of him being part of the 'Aalavandhan' team though Kamal didn't know of it. He was assisting director Suresh Krishna for that project.

Former state minister R. M. Veerappan, actor and politician Sarath Kumar, Kalaipuli Shekaran and many others took part in the function.

MK, Jaya to see 'Dasavatharam'

The magnum-opus ‘Dasavatharam’ will hit the screens on 13 June. The much-hyped movie will open in maximum theaters all across the globe.
Interestingly actor Kamal Haasan, who has played the lead role in the movie, has invited both the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to view the film.
Karunanidhi has been taking keen interest in the movie and even appreciated Kamal Haasan after watching a special trailer of ‘Dasavatharam’.
Speaking at the audio launch of the film, Karunanidhi expressed his admiration for Kamal Haasan and said that he was eager to watch the film.
It may be recalled that Rajinikanth's ‘Sivaji’ was watched by Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa last year.

‘Dasavatharam’: Perfection all the way

The coming together of committed professions with immense knowledge in their area of expertise is what brings about the incredible magic of good filmmaking. This is the how scores of Hollywood action flicks keep us at the edge of our seats in awe and admiration.

Kamal Haasan's ‘Dasavatharam’ has taken a leaf out of this professional brilliance in every facet literally.

With the script demanding huge stunt and action sequences, Kamal Haasan had chosen Andy Dixon, a renowned stunt choreographer from Hollywood whose credits include the likes of Miami Vice, Transporter 2 and Ace Ventura-Pet Detective etc.

Dixon is an expert in car chase sequences and making of rigs for high voltage action scenes. Rigs are tailor- made equipments that help execute high- risk action sequences with perfection without putting men or machines into jeopardy. He works with a ten member crew specializing in wire fights. The crew also includes a Hai-Kido (Japanese martial art) master, a Parkour jump expert, race drivers, stuntmen and stunt women.

The end sequence of the movie, as Dixon puts it, would be remembered for a very long time. Dashing action sequences filmed with appropriate rigs have been shot worldwide.

The same team that performs for the hugely popular AXN serial 'Extreme Stunts' have involved themselves for the car chases sequences of ‘Dasavatharam’. The team is headed by Grady Bishop, a "dare devil driver" based in Florida, U.S.A.

Apart from the U.S. team, a Japanese Hai-Kido master named Sonny Loke Chuan Sun, traveled all the way to the U.S, and joined the crew at their U.S. schedule to choreograph the Hai-Kido fight sequence in the film. Magnificent planning with a thirst for perfection. That is Kamal Haasan and ‘Dasavatharam’ for you.

Pinnacle Of Perfection – ‘Dasavatharam’

Oscar Films Private Limited's 90 Crore Magnum opus ‘Dasavatharam’ has Padmashree Kamal Haasan, a star of international repute, donning ten different roles ranging from a 12th Century priest to a genius Bio-Scientist and the President of United States….. The film is being directed by Mr. K.S. Ravikumar, who is considered the man with the Midas touch of commercial cinemas in South India and whose earlier films like ‘Padayappa’, ‘Avvai Shanmugi’ (The original version of ‘Chachi 420’), Muthu etc., and have all created record collections at the Box Office. Its music is scored by the current Numero Uno of Hindi film music Mr. Himesh Reshammiya. In addition to Padmashree Kamal Haasan, the movie has Asin, the gorgeous heartthrob of South India who is now paired up with Aamir Khan in 'Ghajini'; the glamour Goddess Mallika Sherawat; evergreen Jayapradha and other big names of Tamil and Telugu Film Industry.

Element In Film Making - An actor donning ten different roles in a single movie is a first in the history of world cinema. We call it as one legend in ten actions which was never done before and probably never again. Ten different make-ups of Padmashree Kamal Haasan is done by Oscar Award winning make-up artiste Mr. Michael Westmore whose credits include ‘Mask’, ‘Raging Bull’, ‘Blade Runner’, ‘Rambo’, ‘Star Trek Series’ etc.

Visually Stunning Stunts And Actions - With the script demanding huge stunts and action sequences, Padmashree Kamal Haasan picked Mr. Andy Dixon, a world renowned stunt choreographer in the U.S. whose credits include films like ‘Miami Vice’, ‘Transporter 2’, ‘Ace Ventura-Pet Detective’ etc.,

Visual Effects Marvel -
The Visual Effects work is a very crucial element of the movie since the story has many historical, factual and fantasy images to be recreated with the aid of Computer Generated Imagery. To achieve the standard and precision of Hollywood visual effects, we have Mr. Bryan M Jennings, Oscar Award nominee from Hollywood whose credits include Exorcist, Scary Movie, The Faculty, Man on Fire, and Vampire in Brooklyn to work on the visual effects department of the movie as visual effect supervisor.

Visual Presentation At Its Best - Cinematography for the movie is done by Mr. Raviverman, Ace Cinematographer, whose works include ‘Armaan’, ‘Anniyan’ and ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’. His creative and innovative lighting styles and compositions etc. are a treat to our eyes. This film is shot in super 35 format and world class Digital process.

Exemplary Work Of Art Direction - The art direction for the movie involved large scale sets of historical, mythological, scientific, ultra modern and deluge concepts with utmost precision. The sets were ably erected by two eminent art directors Mr. Thotta Tharani and Mr. Samir Chanda both national award winners for art direction. To simulate a Tsunami sequence for the movie a 5 acre land was filled with water which resembled the back waters of a sea and sets were built amidst water as they are about to be washed away by huge waves created by the U.S. Team.

Why the making of ‘Dasavatharam’is considered a Herculean Task? - With the script starting from 12th century India and ending in our current real life scenario the film was shot in various locations that includes New York, Washington D.C. Florida, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Chennai, Chidambaram, Nagappattniam, Kanniya Kumari, Malaysia and other places in and around Tamilnadu.

‘Varanam Aayiram’ audio from 15 June

Harris Jayaraj and Gautham menon have always delivered their best. From ‘Minnale’ till ‘Pachai Killi Muthusaram’, the two have always come together render chartbusters.

The latest addition to their long list is ‘Varanam Aayiram’.

The much-awaited audio of the movie would be launched on 15 June in Chennai. The movie features Suriya, Simran, Sameera Reddy and Divya in the lead roles.

Harris, Gautham and Suirya have earlier rendered a smashing hit in ‘Khaakha Khaakha’.

Rajini mania kickstarts as 'Kuselan' nears completion

A plethora of emotions with a lingering look back at the past with the startling reality of the present is what 'Kuselan' is all about. In this remake of a Malayalam film named 'Katha Parayumpol' superstar Rajinikanth plays himself.

The superstar's acting portion has been completed. The movie still has some portions of Nayantara to be canned and even that is expected to be over in a day or two at the Ramoji Rao film city in Hyderabad. Some scenes involving Pasupathy and Meena are also pending. After that, full fledged post production work is slated to begin.

It is a moving tale of two boys who grow up together as thick buddies only to find themselves taken in different paths. One ends up as the superstar in the movies and the other a struggling barber.

Five beautiful ladies grace the screen along with the Superstar. While Nayantara plays the superstar's lady love, Trisha and Sneha feature in song sequences. Meena plays the struggling barber's (Pasupathy) wife. Mamtha Mohandas plays an assistant director in the film. Interestingly P. Vasu, the director of the film plays himself in front of the camera.

Intense sequences have been picturized especially when the shooting crew along with the superstar land up in the same place the barber's saloon is located. How would it be when the two childhood friends meet?

Rajinikanth has proved his mettle in charged up emotional scenes with legendary performances in movies like 'Mullum Malarum'. But then the larger than life superstar image was expected with every release of his, by his die hard fans. With 'Kuselan', Rajinikanth has got the opportunity to showcase his inner strengths as a prolific actor.

'Kuselan' could very well be the film to watch out for….what with a gripping story line and the magic of the superstar all rolled into one.

Vijay's next venture 'Vilu' has kicked off in Palani

Vijay's next venture 'Vil' has kicked off in Palani and the actor is very keen to get things in order right from the outset. Both Vijay and Prabhu Deva, the director of the film, are very keen to cast Vadivelu in a meaty role. It can be recalled that Vadivelu came up with rib tickling stuff in 'Pokiri' that was appreciated by the masses.

Initially the project was named 'Singam', but then director Hari had copyrighted the name for the movie he's planning to make with Suriya. So the Vijay-Prabhu Deva duo decided on 'Vil'. It was only after that they came to know director S. J. Suryah had the same title for a Telugu film he was making with Pawan Kalyan.

Vijay reportedly convinced S. J. Suryah and had him change the title of the Telugu film title. S. J. Suryah has now decided on the name 'Puli' for his film.

With the name game settled now, the unit is concentrating hard to get the movie in a slick format. Grapevine has it that 'Vil' is the remake of a Hindi film by name 'Soldier'. Asin plays Vijay's leading lady once again.

The movie has cinematography by Ravi Varma, music by Devi Sri Prasad and stunts by Fefsi Vijayan.

Sneha as Sarath's mother?

The latest buzz doing rounds in Kollywood is that Sneha will be playing Sarath Kumar's mother in K S Ravikumar's next directorial venture after ‘Dasavadharam’.

Sources say there are two Sarath Kumar in the movie and Sneha plays senior Sarath's wife. The junior (son) Sarath will have Shreya shaking her legs with him.

Sarath's ‘1977’, directed by Dinesh Kumar, is nearing completion and would be released very soon.

Shriya in Sarath's next

Sarath Kumar is as busy a person can be, maintaining a decent balance between his film careers as well as fulfilling the demands on the political front.

Seems like time management is the key! Sarath Kumar is all set to begin his next venture with director K.S. Ravikumar. We had already informed you that Sneha has been signed for this film as the heroine. There is a latest development with regards to the cast of this film. One more addition to the film is actress Shriya who was recently confirmed as the other heroine for this project.

This picture that has yet not been titled is being produced by Radhika Sarath Kumar's Radaan pictures as well as Sun TV.

This picture has a couple of brownie points too. One is that director K.S. Ravikumar will be directing this venture and the other is that Sarath Kumar is believed to be donning a dual role for this project.

If we track back to the past Sarath Kumar's dual-role projects like 'Suryavansam' and 'Natpukaga' both have been super hits.

Not only that all Sarath-Ravi Kumar projects too have been crowd pullers. With this film having two positive sentiments, it is most likely that it will be a super hit like this hero's other ventures.

We wish this team the best of luck in this venture and expect a wholesome entertainer from the experts!

What is the story of Dasavatharam?

Finally, producer V Ravichandran of Aaskar Films confirmed the date of Dasavatharam on June 13 (postponed for a day!) and the reservation of tickets will start from June 8 in Chennai and other major centers. According to Ravichandran, the film will hit the screens without any further delay on the day he announced with more than 1000 prints. He further told that in US, South East Asia and UK the film hits the halls a day before i.e., June 12.

Meanwhile, the story of Dasavatharam was leaked by some of the close technicians in the crew to our correspondent. According to them, there is nothing new in the story and it is a mere copy of Late legend MGR's Ulagam Sutrum Vaaliban.

"It is the modernized version of Ulagam Sutrum Vaaliban. As per the script, Kamal is a great scientist in the US and one day he invents a great thing like the atomic fission. But the baddies lead by another Kamal (a white man) will try to steal that secrete. But the scientist seals the formula and sends it to India. It finally reaches a ninety years old lady (also played by Kamal) and how the baddies capture the formula from the lady is the climax of the movie. In between characters like George Bush (also played by Kamal), Karunanidhi and Jayalalitha also 'appear' in the film to thrill the viewers," a production executive says.

For the first time in the world cinema, Kamal Hassan plays 10 different roles in the film. The cost of production is around 65 crores, which is the second costliest film in Indian Cinema after Superstar Rajinikanth's Rs.80 crore budget film Shivaji.

Vijay changes title Singam as Vil

Finally Vijay – Prabhu Deva ally selected the title Vil for their next project. But at the same time, SJ Surya, the owner of this title, is still maintaining silence over the issue. Initially, Prabhu Deva wanted to title the film as Singam, but the same was registered by director Hari much earlier than Prabhu Deva.

Now Vijay and Prabhu Deva seem to be settled with the catchy title Vil. It may be recalled that a few months before SJ Surya has started a movie with the title Vil. He is playing as a handicapped but very talented young man. But due to the financial crisis of its producer Nic Arts Chakravarthy, the shooting was suspended temporarily.

According to Ayangaran Films International Vijay's Vil will be launched from a remote village near Pazhani, a holy town near Madurai from June 7. The others in the cast are Nayantara, Vadivel, Prakash Raj and Biju Menon.

Ravi Varman handles the camera and Sunil is the art director. Devisri Prasad scores music for this movie.

Shreya replaces Trisha

The successful combination of Thiruvilayadal Arambam is once again joining together. Dhanush and Shreya pair will play in the Tamil remake of Hindi hit Jab We Met soon. Initially, the producer had fixed Trisha for the lead lady role that was played by Kareena Kapoor in the original.

But later Shreya replaced Trisha and the producer of the film Moser Baer also confirmed the same. Interestingly, Trisha is the heroine of Moser Baer's forthcoming big budget film Abhiyum Naanum. But she has failed to maintain the rapport with her producer for their next venture.

Jab We Met was a big hit in Hindi, which featured Shahid Kapoor and Kareena in lead roles. Dhanush will return to this project after the completion of his ongoing Padikkathavan.
