Die hard MGR fan gears up

Nambiraj is a big time MGR fan who had the former Chief Minister's acquaintance in the 1980s. While a student at the Film Institute in Chennai, Nambiraj had the privilege of watching renowned world movies and discussing them with MGR who liked the company of this young man a lot.

After graduating from the Institute, Nambiraj proceeded to make movies and made films such as 'Udhayamagirathu', Manjal Nila', 'Kunguma Pottu', 'Anbe Odivaa' and 'Ungallil Oruvan'.

Legend has it that when MGR was the Chief Minister and was shrouded with a lot of duties, he always kept his word. When Nambiraj wanted the Chief Minister to launch a film of his, the Chief Minister had consented but then had to fly to New Delhi to take part in a function. Though everybody had thought that MGR's commitments had overtaken him, the Chief Minister made it a point to come to Chennai for a few hours in order to keep his word and flew back to New Delhi for official duties.

These are evergreen moments for Nambiraj who has a great passion to make good films. In order to equip himself with the latest trends in the world of filmmaking, he went to London to be part of a film course in 2005 and came back two years later.

Memories of MGR and the film-related talk with him has engulfed his whole self that he has rechristened himself as MGR Nambi and is all set to start directing two films.

MGR Nambi is currently starting a project named 'Porithiru'. Buzz is that latest technological developments are being used for this film. After this, there is a project called 'Sudalai Madan' which will be a period film.

MGR Nambi wants to be associated with films directing and producing them. Let's hope he can come up with good films.
